Richard E. Larsen is the CEO and founding shareholder of The Collection Law Firm, PLLC. Mr. Larsen received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in 1983 and his Juris Doctorate from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1987. Richard Larsen has been a member of the Illinois Bar since 1987 and the Florida Bar since 1989. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Middle District of Florida and the Northern District of Illinois. 

In 1994, Mr. Larsen founded Larsen & Associates, P.L., a niche law firm solely practicing Community Association Law. Larsen & Associates revolutionized the industry by offering online case management with 24/7 access to covenant violation and collection files, various payment plan methods, deferred and fixed rate billing options to allow associations maximized control of their legal budgets, and much more.

Following the success of Larsen & Associates, Richard Larsen decided to take things a step further and revolutionize the industry once again with The Collection Law Firm, PLLC. The Collection Law Firm creates a niche within a niche, "hyper-specializing" community association legal services by exclusively practicing collections. With The Collection Law Firm, Mr. Larsen is able to give clients the best service in the industry at zero cost; allowing them a better chance of collecting the debt without the added legal fees of doing so.

Mr. Larsen has extensive legal experience in Community Association Law, as well as Real Property, Construction, Corporate and Commercial Law and related litigation. He is active in the community association arena both locally and statewide and has served as Board Member and past President of the Community Association Institute (“CAI”), Mid-Florida Chapter.

As a frequent lecturer and author, Richard Larsen has had the opportunity to provide education on community association legal topics to association board members and managers.


Mr. Larsen has received the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell, AV Preeminent and as of June 1, 2018, he is a member of the "inaugural class" of Florida Attorneys awarded Board Certification as a Condominium and Planned Development Attorney.

Thomas R. Slaten, Jr.

Of Counsel

Since  2003 Mr. Slaten has exclusively represented homeowners’ and condominium associations.  He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1994. He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1995 and is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for both the Middle District of Florida and the Southern District of Florida.


Mr. Slaten is certified by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to teach courses in Community Association Law.  He regularly teaches board member certification courses and legal update classes.  He is a regular speaker at Community Associations Institutes’ Central Florida Chapter programs as well as a past director.  Thomas Slaten currently serves on the Florida Legislative Alliance, which advocates for improvements in laws governing community associations.


Mr. Slaten began his legal career as a prosecutor with the State Attorney’s Office in Ft. Myers, Florida. Subsequent to his position as an Assistant State Attorney, he served as a Civil Litigator practicing in areas of insurance and commercial law. He has concentrated his practice on Community Association Law since joining Larsen and The Collection Law Firm, as his experience includes both the presentation and formation of community associations. Thomas Slaten recently served as a Board Member of the Community Association Institute (“CAI”), Mid-Florida Chapter.


Cheryl C. Slaten

Of Counsel

Mrs. Slaten received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola University in New Orleans, graduating cum laude, in 1990. She obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida Levin School of Law, graduating with honors.


As a member of the Florida Bar since 1994, Cheryl Slaten joined the firm with an extensive litigation background and experience. Prior to, she worked in the State Attorney’s Office serving as lead counsel on almost 500 trials throughout her career. In addition to working in the State Attorney’s Office, Mrs. Slaten has several years of civil litigation experience.

Charles L. Eldredge, Jr.

Of Counsel

Charles L. Eldredge received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987 at Loyola University New Orleans and his Juris Doctorate from Barry University’s Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in 2009. While at Barry University, Mr. Eldredge served on Law Review.

Mr. Eldredge has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2010.


Prior to joining The Collection Law Firm, Mr. Eldredge had a 20 year career in real estate and broadcasting.

Aristides J. "Kico" Diaz

Of Counsel

Mr. Diaz obtained his Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law, graduating with honors in 1997.


As a member of the Florida Bar since 1997, Mr. Diaz joined The Collection Law Firm with an extensive litigation background and comprehensive business experience.


Mr. Diaz was a U.S. Navy Lieutenant from 1987-1993, served as past President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida, served as a past Chair on the Judicial Nominating Commission – Fifth District Court of Appeal (2006-2010), and served as a lecturer for law students and community organizations.
